About
Tex! mission statement: To provide laughter and fun through music while paying tribute to the incredibly under-recognized hard work that farmers throughout the world do every single day. As the saying goes: They farm… we eat.
Dubuque, Iowa, USA. This is the heart of America’s farmland and the home of Paolo Licciardi.
A musician for most of his life, he started in music as a drummer at the age of nine. He began playing along with disco, Kiss, and all of the 70’s soft rock hits that he loved. Since his teens, he’s played in every type of band you can think of from Beatles tributes to heavy metal and still does to this day.
In the 80’s, he fell in love with the synth pop of the day. Erasure, Ultravox, OMD, Gary Numan and Pet Shop Boys were among his favorites. He bought his first synthesizer (the Roland Juno 60) second hand in the early 90’s and began copying the sounds of his idols.
By the mid 90’s and disillusioned with popular music in America, Paolo began to closely watch the rest of the world’s pop charts. Soon he was grabbing up all the UK, German and Scandinavian dance-pop hits he could get his hand on, particularly Scooter and Blümchen, followed by the big wave of dance-pop that started with Aqua.
All of this slowly developed into what is now Tex!. A fusion of his American farmer roots with the fun and energetic sound of Eurodance to create what Paolo lovingly calls “corny music for fun people!”
